About this blog
Hey. My name is Rachel. This is my blog.
I have no credentials to speak of for doing this kind of thing, but then again neither do most of the people who putz around on the internet writing about their life. I try to do an okay job though. You’re welcome.
I started this site a few months after leaving medical school as a way to find my voice in a time of grief and uncertainty about my future, and despite the Grim and Serious Tone of that sentence, I discovered that my voice was a bit of an irreverent potty mouth. It really only took about two posts.
“Yestertime” is a word my son made up when he was two. It’s a catchall to mean “any time occurring in the past.” Sadly, now that he is on the cusp of manhood at the age of five he doesn’t use it anymore, but he still calls rakes “brakes” which I may never correct. This may come up later in his adult therapy.
I worked really hard to get into medical school, and deciding to leave was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. But afterwards I was able to look up and see the world in a different way, and I’ll always be grateful for that.
Because life is funny.
