Into the fold

This weekend Max got baptized with some holy waters. He wore my little brother’s baptismal outfit from 24ish years ago and looked quite the dapper wee lad, if I do say so myself.

My grandparents drove down special for the event, and met him for the very first time. It was love at first sight for both parties.

Meanwhile, Rosie discovered we would be standing up in front of a whole lot of people and was stoked. This was her SHOW and she was ready for it. Oh man, did this used to be me when I was a kid one hundred times over. Get it, girl.

Also apparent from these pictures: Max weighs a lot of pounds. Like 1, 2, 3, 4 … a lot. So much acreage to love on that boy.

Grandmother’s down with that.

Oh, but these are some of my favorite people in all of the world. It was a good weekend.

Your family is just amazing. I love Noah in the pics, so stoic and biggest brotherish. When did he get so old?

I’ll never forget the feel of holding him, of how good he was all through the service, of his smiles and little laugh as we sat on the swing and looked up into the trees. We had a real love feast!
It was a wonderful day for your granddad, too, even if he didn’t say much.
We are so grateful to your dad for getting us there and to your mom, et al, for the good dinner; to Ginny, Luke, Sarah, you and Joe for the many great pictures. Treasures! Thanks y’all!

Dorothy—I know, right? He looks ginormous. Also, he took the baptism very seriously and regularly asked Max in the days leading up, “Are you nervous about getting baptized, Max? Don’t worry, it’s just water on your head! Rosie and I both did it. You’re gonna like it.”

Gmo—I hate that there are not more pictures for me to share of all the other good people there! We need to come to visit you and Granddaddy soon!

RD—Me too, all the time. It’s a cureall!
