Chugging through the gigabytes

I’m up to April, you guys. APRIL! I may catch up to myself on Flickr yet. Go on, peruse away.

(P.S. In fact, I’m on such a roll because of Flickr, I think I might just post every day this week. You heard right – five posts in five days. And some of them will even have paragraphs! OH SNAP!)

Phone call from the road

“Hi Mommy!”

“Hey buddy, how’s your trip so far? Where are you guys?”

“Granddaddy says we’re just south of…Tipton? And, also, Mom? I got pink lemonade!”

“Just south of Tifton – won’t be long until you’re in Florida! Oooh, and pink lemonade – no regular lemonade for you, huh? You go for the good stuff! Did you have lunch already?”

“We went to Chick-fil-a. And they had a playground!”

“Awesome. Whatcha been doing in the car?”

“Mmmm, I read some books. And I tried to color, but the car was making me scribble scrabble. What are you doing?”

“I’m putting dishes in the dishwasher. Not as fun as pink lemonade and Chick-fil-a, I guess. Rosie’s taking a nap. Hey, guess what Rosie said when I picked her up today?”

“What?”

“She said ‘Where’s Noah?’ She misses you already!”

(laughs) “Oh, Rosie. Mom, maybe you should find a toy that used to be mine and let her play with it. That way she’ll remember me.”

“I think that’s a great idea, buddy.”

“Ok, Mom, I’m going to watch my DVDs now.”

“Ok. Have a good rest of the trip. I love you.”

“Love you, Mom.”

“Bye.”

“Bye!”

Five minutes

Aaaaand, GO:

Pain, Pain Go Away

My laptop is scorching my bare legs right now. Like 2nd degree burns scorching. My neurotransmitters send my brain this signal loud and clear every time I’m on the computer doing work and then my brain promptly catalogs the information in the “Ignore and/or Pretend Not Happening, Hope It Goes Away” File.  Also in that file: the wasp nest in the attic, the burgeoning presence of my midsection, and the fact that I have been wearing my last pair of monthly contacts for six weeks and counting.

My Emotions, They Are Complex

Noah is going to his grandparents’ house in Tampa for SEVEN DAYS on Tuesday. I am equal parts excited and melancholy about this fact. On the one excited hand, I’m pretty confident that he’s going to have a total blast, and L and I will get to have some good quality one on one time with Rosie. On the melancholy other hand, MAH BAY-BEE BOY IS LEEEEEAVIN’ MEEEEEEE.

Ahem.

Hawking My Gently Used Wares To The Public At Large

Our yard sale on Saturday was a rousing success, to the tune of about $700. Cha-CHING! Not all of that money is mine – there were five contributors to the sale – but I did come away with about 40% of the earnings. HECK yeah. It was approximately ten degrees cooler than the surface of the sun during the day though, and so after about 11:30 the stream of customers slowed waaaaay down to only about 2, maybe 3 an hour. But we stuck it out until four o’ clock, because I will do just about anything for ten bucks that is what I put on all the posters.

TIME.

3. Getting ready for a Yard Sale

4. Keeping Rosie from confiscating/eating/breaking everything set out for the Yard Sale
