Writer’s (ice) block

The file cabinet in my brain reserved for “Writing Topics” is so full up right now that I can’t quite get all the information to fit in there. I keep thinking of new somethings to squirrel away for a rainy, kid-free moment and I try to stuff them in for safe keeping but the files keep spilling over and flopping out, until I finally just mash the whole mess down with my hand and shove the drawer closed with my rear end.  Then when I go to retrieve an idea, I can’t find anything in the crumpled jammed-up mess.

This is why blogging every day was such a release, and also such a great exercise in taking simple acts of every day life and holding them up to squint at them sideways until I could see light filter through the cracks in a new way.  I stopped writing daily because in theory that was supposed to free me up to spend more time on the quality of my posts.  In reality, about 99.7% of my posts are written and published in one sitting, with little editing or revising, and that has not changed since my daily posts became weekly posts. And actually, the more time that passes between posts, the more there is to write about, which works exactly the opposite on writer’s block as you might think it would.

(You see where this train of thought is leading, don’t you.)

For lack of better analogy, I think I need to let my faucet drip so that my pipes don’t freeze.

So starting with this dribble (drivel?) today, I will begin daily posts again (minus Sat-Sun, because I am not a machine) in the attempt to keep the flow flowing and the words wording.

Sound good?  Sounds good.

Ok? Ok.

Deal? Deal.

Yay for daily blogging!

I applaud you for blogging daily. I can only muster 2-3 posts a week, even though I’ve spread myself out over a few different blogs.

Good luck to you. I will try to read as many of them as I can.

Libby –
A moleskin, YES. Except. That would require 1. remembering to keep it with me at all times and 2. having hands (and a writing utensil) to record my thoughts. Still! It’s a thought!

Also, yayers: I hope you still feel yayful after a week or so. Thanks for the encouragement, though!
