Willy Wonka, Patron Saint of Pregnant Women

I would just like to report that today has been Most Excellent.

My sister took Bug for the whole day, and I have been set free to do Whatever the Hell Pleaseth Me. And I’ve discovered that when I have a day when I don’t have a constant stream of noise delivered to my ears, it takes very very little to pleaseth me.

I took a long shower, dolled myself up, and then hit the town. It was glorious. Chow mein noodles were involved. After a while I meandered home decided to sell all of our furniture on Craigslist. (No really! FYI, Lorso!)

I also started thinking that if there is any merit to the old wives’ tale that women carrying girls crave sweet things, then this baby in my belly has the X chromosome times two. It started literally the day after I took the test. All I wanted were Blow Pops. BLOW POPS. WTF? That’s not even a food. When I found out that I could buy them at the place my sister works with a family discount that made them $.09 each, I almost kissed her right on the lips there at the cash register. Then I moved on to Skittles, and about 15 minutes ago I just walked to the corner gas station and bought a giant box of NERDS. WHO DOES THAT. I’ll tell you who does that. Seven year old girls at the movies and crazy pregnant women, that’s who. I swear the cashiers smirk a little when I come in and plunk my candy up on the counter. “That’s all today, miss? You sure? Pack Starburst on sale, two for dollar!” HEY SHUT UP. Or I’m going to walk out of here right now. After I pay for my Nerds.

Anywho, I’m going to go enjoy my last thirty minutes of silence before Bug descends upon the threshold. I’m gonna put my feet up, watch some Oprah, and throw back a big box of Rainbow Nerds. Because girl or not, this baby wants some SUGAR.

Not that it matters but I really hope this baby IS a girl because I keep calling her “she” and whenever I go shopping I find lots of cute things to buy my new niece. It might not be easy to readjust my mindset here. Keep craving those sweets!! (not that it matters…)

i can say from personal experience of being pregnant with one of each…you are so having a girl!

i totally believe this…i had stock piled every sugary cereal ever made when I was pregnant – lucky charms, corn pops, frtui loops, I even spent extra money on those packs of mini boxes of sugary goodness so I could eat them all – i seriously ate some twice a day, at least.

I am further supporting the idea that this baby is a girl…my sweetness longings have mostly come in the form of ice cream, but we have also had cookies in the house on a regular basis for the first time in our marriage…I will be a little sad when my excuse for eating all this junk is gone (though only a little bit!)
